ਇਹ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀ ਜੂਨ ੮੪ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲ੍ਹਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਨੇਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਣਮੱਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜ਼ਖਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਰਜ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਉਪਰਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਘੜ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਂਬਾਜ਼ ਕਾਰਨਾਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਤ ਪਾਉਂਦੀ ਇਹ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀ, ਸੰਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਦੌਰ ਦੇ ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗੀ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਥੀਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਖੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡੇ 'ਤੇ ਹੰਢਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲ਼ਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਜੰਗ ਦੀ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਥ ਲਈ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਜੰਗ ਦੇ ਚਸ਼ਮਦੀਦਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਕੇ ਸਮਝਣ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਹੋਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਜੂਨ ੮੪ ਦੇ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁ-ਗਿਣਤੀ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪੇਗੰਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹਨ। ਜਾਂ ਫੇਰ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲ਼ੇ ਇਸ ਜੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਧ ਅਧੂਰੇ ਫੋਕੇ ਤੱਥਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਕਤੀ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ਼ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਜੰਗ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਜਾਂ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਨੋ ਕਤਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਬਾਕੀ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਪਿਰਤ ਪਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੋਈ, ਸਿਰਫ ਵਕਤੀ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੀ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਇਹ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀ ਉਸ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਦੌਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੂਹਿਕ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਹਿ ਤੱਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਿਮਰਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੂਨ ੮੪ ਦੀ ਸਹੀ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।

ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਲਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਰਾਸਤੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਾਜਾਂ, ਰੂਹਕਸ਼ ਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ਼ ਪਰੋ ਕੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਇਹ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀ ਇੱਕ ਕਲਾਤਮਿਕ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਅਜੌਕੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵੀ ਅਸੀਂ ੮੦ਵਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਚੁਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਥਕ ਰਵਾਇਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਰੂਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਦਕ ਅਤੇ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਅਮਲ ਦਾ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਹਲਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਹੀ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹਤਾ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।

This film looks to the Battle of Amritsar as a guiding light to the future rather than a painful memory of the past.

By connecting viewers with the spirit of Sikh sangarsh (struggle) embodied by the jujharoos (warriors), the film is a soulful exploration of a momentous event in Sikh history. Based on interviews of those present throughout the battle, the film will take a deeper look at what the Battle of Amritsar means for the Sikh panth through the eyes of those who witnessed and participated directly.

While many documentaries and videos have been produced revolving around June 1984, many have been plagued by the influence of state propaganda or have focussed on outlining the technical details and immediate sequence of events leading up to the battle.

Instead, this documentary stands out as one which goes much deeper than merely seeking to justify or contextualize Sikh resistance.

Interlaced with powerful archival footage, a traditional Sikh soundscape, and soul-piercing poetry, this film is an artistic tapestry that seeks to capture the soul of Sikh resistance.

Facing a myriad of similar challenges and provocations today, the film revisits the Battle of Amritsar from a Sikh perspective to learn from those gurmukhs (Guru-oriented beings) about how to face our situation today with similar clarity and fortitude.
